As far as I know wslpd _only_ supports text printing. At least I couldn't
manage wslpd to accept postscript data.

Are you using Microsoft's TCP/IP stack Beta2? When I'm using that stack
with WfWG3.11, any attempt to use COM2 fails - weird.

You are right, Craig. FastDisk (32-bit disk access) only works on/with
controllers that are Western Digital 1003 compatible, which would account for
the vast majority of *GENERIC* IDE controllers. Most SCSI controllers need a
device driver provided by the card's manufacturer. To date, Adaptec,
BusLogic, DTC and many others do not/are not providing FastDisk-compatible
drivers. FastDisk seems to be a necessary performance enhancement on my
daughter's machine (386/SX, 120M IDE, 2MB RAM), but not on mine (486/DX50
EISA, 660MB SCSI, DTC3290 w/4MB cache, 16MB RAM). I believe Future Domain and
DPT (note the spelling) make SCSI host adapters that provide FastDisk
functionality, but frankly, I do not miss it.

Drag and drop support is already in WS_FPT, the best I found in public domain.

As far as I know (I don't have it) the Chameleon software in the books is
not a demo package, but is a version of Chameleon 3.11 without Ethernet
support. There is no self distruct that I know of.
I downloaded a demo of Chameleon 4.0 from Netmanage that was the
full package, with Ethernet, and it claimed it would stop working in a few
months.
Both packages include PPP and SLIP. I did not really like the Chameleon 4
demo package, and its pretty expensive. I've heard good things about the
software in the book though, andit is cheap enough to take a chance.
I don't want to spend too much on PPP if its going to be built into my
operating system in a few months.

I'm useing wlprs40.zip (wlprspl.exe) on winsock just fine. This shareware
tool installs as the windows spooler and is transparant to windows apps
and prints to my Lantronix printer server fine.
Use archie to find it near you.
